Script Concordance Tests (SCTs) are meant to measure the degree of concordance between examinees and a reference panel of experts concerning clinical decisions and actions under uncertainty.
Format : For each item, a clinical case is presented, containing either not enough information to solve the clinical problem (diagnostic, treatment), either ambiguous data or conflict among values (assessment of ethical reasoning for instance). A series of questions is related to the case. Each contains an option relevant to the clinical problem, followed by the presentation of a new information. Examinees’ task is to assess the effect this new information has on the status of the option. Subsequent questions within the case explore the effect of other data on other options.
The test has been used mainly in health sciences but it can be used in any domain where reasoning implies uncertainty. SCT has been the object of many published studies in health sciences education.
